Wall StreetWall Street in lower Manhattan, was the first permanent home of the New York Stock Exchange, and is the approximate center of New York's financial district. The phrase is also used to refer to the financial industry. Wall Street is named after New York's old city wall, long since dismantled. See also: The Wall Street Journal
