Volcanic ashVolcanic ash is low-density solidified rock material ejected from a volcanic vent into the air. The explosive nature of an eruption involving steam (phreatic eruption) results in the magma being blown into particles of silt to sand size. The ejection of large quantities of ash will produce an ash cone. When volcanic ash consolidates, it forms tuff. |
