Uxbridge tube station

Uxbridge is the terminus for the Uxbridge branches of both the Piccadilly Line and the Metropolitan Line of the London Underground.

The Uxbridge branch opened for the Metropolitan Line on 4th July 1904, and for the Piccadilly Line on 23rd October 1933. The original station was replaced by the current one on a new site a few hundred yards away on 4th December 1938.

Whilst the frontage of the station is an attractive brick building, with some interesting railway inspired sculptures above the main entrance, the canopy over the platforms is a concrete and glass structure. There are some marked similarities between this station and Cockfosters, the terminus at the northern end of the Piccadilly Line.
