USS Ohio
Four ships of the United States Navy have borne the name USS Ohio, named for Ohio, admitted to the Union March 1, 1803, as the 17th State.
- The first Ohio was a schooner on Lake Erie during the War of 1812.
- The second Ohio was a ship of the line launched in 1820 and in use as a warship until 1850, then later a receiving ship.
- The third USS Ohio (BB-12) was a Maine-class pre-Dreadnought battleship.
- The fourth ship commissioned with this name was USS Ohio (SSBN-726), the lead ship of the Ohio class of nuclear-powered fleet ballistic missile submarines.
