USS Ohio (BB-68)Building of a Montana-class battleship to be named USS Ohio (BB-68) in honor of the 17th state was authorized July 19, 1940, and assigned to the Philadelphia Navy Yard; but, before her keel was laid, construction was canceled July 21, 1943. Ohio would have been the fourth ship to bear that name had she been commissioned.Other ships of the United States Navy have borne the name Ohio; see that index page.
