USS AmsterdamUSS Amsterdam was to have been the name of the light cruiser numbered CL-59, but after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States Navy completed the ship as the light aircraft carrier Independence (CVL-22).The light cruiser Amsterdam (CL-101) was commissioned in 1945 and briefly participated in the final campaign against Japan, then was decomissioned in 1947.
