University of Wales

The University of Wales is a federal University founded in 1893 and is made up of the following constituent institutions;

Cardiff University and the University of Wales College of Medicine are currently in the process of merging, the merged body to be retain the name Cardiff University. The University of Wales Institute, Cardiff and the University of Glamorgan (the only university in Wales not to be part of the University of Wales) are also in the process of merging, the merged body to be called Cardiff Metropolitan University and be a constitutent institute of the University of Wales. A number of other higher education institutes in Wales, all of which currently award degrees validated by the University of Wales, will shortly be joining the federal University, these include the Swansea Institute of Higher Education and the North East Wales Institute.
