TyrolTyrol was a county of the Holy Roman Empire until its dissolution in 1806, and a crownland of Austria-Hungary until it dissolved in 1918. The southern part of Tyrol was occupied by Italian forces at the end of World War I and was subsequently ceded to Italy. The northern part is today a federal state of Austria called Tyrol, while the South Tyrol today constitutes the Italian province of Bozen-Bolzano. See also: Tyrol (disambiguation)
