Tooth enamelTooth enamel is the smooth top layer of a tooth which protects the underlying dentine, with its many nerves, from injury and decay. Tooth enamel is denser and chemically more inert than other body tissues, but can be attacked and destroyed by lengthy exposure to acids created in the mouth by eating or drug use (including cocaine).See also:
