Tennessee River

The Tennessee River in the USA begins at the confluence of the Ohio River and Mississippi River, flows down through Tennessee and eventually loops thorugh Alabama before continuing back through Tennessee into the Appalachian Mountains, where it dissipates into a number of smaller rivers and streams. It splits from the Cumberland River in Kentucky.

The river has been dammed numerous times, many of which were Tennessee Valley Authority and United States Army Corps of Engineers projects. The placement of the Kentucky Dam directly led to the creation of Land Between the Lakes.
