Sybill TrelawneySybill Trelawney is a fictional character who appears in J. K. Rowling's series of Harry Potter novels. Sybill is the teacher of Divination at Hogwarts.
Sybill P. Trelawney is professor of Divination at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She is great-great-grandaughter of the celebrated seer Cassandra Trelawney. Sybill talks in ethereal and misty tones, which seems to annoy Harry and his friend Ron Weasley, who consider Trelawney to be nothing more than an old fraud, which the teachers (particularly Professor Minerva McGonagall) are inclined to agree with. Trelawney unusually starts her classes by predicting the death of one of her students, and keeps this sharad up for the rest of the time she teaches that pupil. Trelawney dons many gauzy bangles, cloaks and shawls, all covered with shining sequins, which in Harry's opinion make her look like an oversized drangonfly. She also dons thick glasses, which magnify her eyes to about ten times their normal size.
