Styria (state)
Styria (Steiermark in German) is a federal state or Bundesland, located in the south east of Austria. The capital is Graz and with an area of 16.388 km², and close to 1.2 Million inhabitants it is the second largest state of Austria.
It may also be referred to as Upper Styria, or Obersteiermark by Slovenians. The term "Upper Styria" used by an Austrian refers to the geographical area around Bruck an der Mur in the north of the federal state.
