Starman (comic)
Starman is the name of a number of fictional DC Comics superheroes.The first Starman is playboy astronomer Ted Knight, who in the guise of Starman fights evil alongside his fellow heroes in the Justice Society of America and first appeared in Adventure Comics in 1941.
In the late 1980s a new, unrelated superhero called Starman - a young man named Will Payton - was the first to have a comic book series by that name which lasted until the early 1990s.
In 1994 DC Comics once again revived the Starman character with a new comic book series written by screenplay writer James Robinson. This series begins with the murder of the eldest son of the original Starman who has just donned the costume himself. The mantle of Starman is thus passed onto his younger brother, Jack Knight, a reluctant hero who is the first Starman not to wear a mask or a costume. The series incorporates every superhero who has ever been named Starman into a cohesive history.
