St. Cyprian's School

St. Cyprian's was George Orwell's school in Eastbourne, East Sussex. The Headmaster's wife, a certain Mrs. Wilkes, is alleged to be one of the characters that Big Brother, from the novel 1984, is based on. Later in his life he wrote a short story ironically entitled 'Such, such were the joys' about his time there.
