Rulien Township is a township located in Lake of the Woods County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 3. According to the United States Census Bureau, it is one of only 9 places in the United States with a population of three people. The others are East Blythe, California, North Red River Township, Minnesota, Hush Lake, Minnesota, Pfeiffer Lake, Minnesota, Livermore, New Hampshire, Hillsview, South Dakota, Point of Rocks, Wyoming, and Hobart Bay, Alaska.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 94.4 km² (36.5 mi²). 94.3 km² (36.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.08% water.
