Ridley Scott

Sir Ridley Scott is a film director. He was born November 30, 1937, in the United Kingdom. Having cut his teeth on television commercials — most notably one for Apple Macintosh computers titled 1984 — he graduated to Hollywood, where he has produced a number of extremely famous films. His striking visual style, incorporating a detailed approach to production design and innovative, atmospheric lighting, has been tremendously influential to an entire subsequent generation of filmmakers — many of whom have simply imitated him outright.

Scott has been nominated for three Academy Awards for Directing. He was knighted in the 2003 New Year Honours.
