Retrolental fibroplasia

Retrolental fibroplasia is a deformation of the eyes caused by placing premature babies in incubators with high oxygen levels. The blood vessels of the retina first atrophy, then grow back madly. The retina may detach, and scar tissue may form on the back of the lens or completely surround the lens. If the retina detaches or the lens scars, the result is blindness.
