Ranunculales

The Ranunculales are an order of flowering plants, which belong among the basal eudicotss. Newer systems include the following families:

  • Family Ranunculaceae (buttercup family)
  • Family Berberidaceae (barberry family)
  • Family Menispermaceae (monseed family)
  • Family Lardizabalaceae
  • Family Circaeasteraceae
  • Family Eupteleaceae
  • Family Papaveraceae (poppy family)
  • Family Fumariaceae
  • Family Pteridophyllaceae

A few other families may be separated out from the Ranunculaceae. In the older Cronquist system, the Eupteleaceae were excluded, and the Papaveraceae and Fumariaceae (including the Pteridophyllaceae) were treated as a separate order Papaverales.
