Ram air turbine

A ram air turbine is a small propeller used as an emergency backup power source for aircraft, usually to power vital systems in case of an emergency.

Unlike conventional auxilliary power systems, the ram air turbine generates power from the resultant moving air due to the speed of the aircraft, while conventional systems consume fuel to provide such power.
