Psilanthropism

In Christianity, Psilanthropism or Socianism is the view that denies the divine nature of Christ.

The presumed etymology of "psilanthropism" stems from the Greek psilo (merely, only) and anthropos (man, human being).

The presumed etymology of "socianism" stems from the Latin socius (companion).

Psilanthropism was rejected by the ecumenical councils, especially in the First Council of Nicaea, which was convened to deal directly with this.

Compare with: Heresy

See: Nicene Creed, Holy Trinity, Arian
