Pharmacist

Pharmacists are health professionals who practise pharmacy. Pharmacists are a source of medication and health information and products, especially information on reactions between multiple medications. Pharmacists typically take an order for medicines from a physician in the form of a medical prescription and dispense the medication to the patient.

In the UK and Canada, pharmacists complete a 4 year degree and one year pre-registration experience before registration. Pharmacists work in hospitals, pharmaceutical industry, universities, medical practices and in community pharmacies. Pharmacists are trained in pharmacology, interactions, medicine monitoring, pharmaceutics (preparing the drug into a usable dosage form), pharmacy law, physiology, anatomy and biochemistry.

In British English and Hiberno-English pharmacists are often called Chemists.
