Parti Socialiste
The Parti Socialiste is a left wing Wallonian social democratic political party.It is the dominant party in Wallonia, supported by the urban working class and is led by the flamboyant Elio Di Rupo. Nearly always part of the governing coalition, because a Wallonian party is always needed by the constitution. It did very well in the 2003 election.
Parti Socialiste (PS) is also the name of the French socialist party.
François Mitterrand became leader of the party in 1971, following the Congress of Epinay.
