Osmanli

The Osmanli Dynasty ruled the Ottoman Empire from ca 1298 to 1923, beginning with Osman I, though the dynasty was not proclaimed until 1383 when Murad I declared himself sultan. In the 13th century the tribe/dynasty was known as Söğüt but was renamed Osmanli in honour of Osman.

Osmanli is also used as an alternative name for the Turkish language spoken in countries such as Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Macedonia, Romania and Uzbekistan.
