Oldenburg (district)
Oldenburg is a Kreis (district) in the western part of Lower Saxony, Germany. Area 1063 km², population 119,300 (2000). The district's capital is Wildeshausen.
The district does not include the city of Oldenburg, but it extends from the southern outskirts of Oldenburg and Delmenhorst southwards. The Hunte river enters the district in the south, runs through Wildeshausen and leaves in the north towards Oldenburg city.
