New Jersey Transit

New Jersey Transit is the public transportation system of the state of New Jersey, USA. It operates bus, light rail and rail services.

NJ Transit was founded in 1979 to take several over private bus companies. In 1983, it took over all commuter rail service in the state from CONRAIL.

In the 1990s, the system expanded, with new "MidTOWN DIRECT" service to New York and new equipment. In 2003, it will open the Secaucus Transfer superstation.
