Microwave radiometerThe Microwave Radiometer (MWR) is an instrument that measures energy emitted by the atmosphere at very low energy levels (wavelengths much longer than red light also known as microwaves). By understanding the physical processes associated with energy emission at these wavelengths, scientists can calculate the total amount of water vapor and the total amount of liquid water in the atmospheric column directly above the instrument. |
