Michael Savage (commentator)

Michael Savage, (aka Michael A. Weiner) is a popular and controversial right-wing Americann talk-radio host. He is an epidemiology and nutrition expert, and a former political liberal.

Savage's radio program called, The Savage Nation, centered around a common language and culture, and the enforcement of territorial borders as fundamental conditions which hold a nation together. He advocates stronger immigration controls and the reassertion of English as the official language of the United States.

His political opponents characterise him as a racist homophobic bigot.

On July 7, 2003 he was fired by MSNBC for making several anti-gay remarks, including telling a homosexual caller that he "should only get AIDS and die". Gay rights group GLAAD applauded the decision to fire him. Right-wing group Conservative Patriots defended Savage's reaction by stating that the caller should in fact contract AIDS and die.
