LeviteIn the Judeo-Christian tradition, a Levite is a member of the Hebrew tribe descended from Levi. The Levites were the only one of the thirteen tribes who had no tribal land, and served as the priests of the Hebrew people. In return, the landed tribes were expected to tithe to the priests.
