Leaky rayLeaky ray: In an optical fiber, a ray for which geometric optics would predict total internal reflection at the boundary between the core and the cladding, but which suffers loss by virtue of the curved core boundary.Note: Leaky rays correspond to leaky (i.e. , tunneling) modes in the terminology of mode descriptors.
