José Clemente Orozco

José Clemente Orozco (born 1883 in Ciudad Guzmán; died 1949 in Mexico City) was a Mexican Social Realist painter specializing in murals. He studied in Mexico City at the San Carlos Academy.

One of his most famous murals is The Epic of American Civilization at Dartmouth College. It was painted between 1932 and 1934 and covers over 3000 square feet. His other works include Prometheus (1930), Zapata (1930), and Christ Destroying His Cross (1943).
