John Mitchell
John Newton Mitchell (September 5, 1913 - November 9, 1988) served as United States Attorney General during the Nixon administration. He also served as campaign director for CRP, the Committee to Re-elect the President, which employed Watergate burglar James W. McCord, Jr in a "security" capacity. On March 1, 1974, Mitchell was convicted of conspiracy to obstruct justice for his role in the Watergate scandal.The Martha Mitchell effect is named after John Newton Mitchell's wife.
