John Lomax

John Lomax (1876-1948) was a pioneering musicologist and folklorist. Lomax was born in Mississippi and grew up in central Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas and studied at Harvard.

Lomax collected and published many folk songs. With his son Alan Lomax, he recorded many folk songs for the Library of Congress.
