Jimmy Chamberlin

Jimmy Chamberlain (born June 10, 1964) was the drummer for rock band the Smashing Pumpkins. He was born in Joliet, Illinois. He joined the Smashing Pumpkins in 1988, when the then trio was still using a drum machine. During the tour for the 1996 album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Chamberlin and keyboardist Jonathan Melvoin overdosed on heroin, Melvoin later dying. Chamberlin was kicked out of the band and replaced for a time by Matt Walker, before the group returned to using drum machines.

After three years, Chamberlin was readmitted into the Smashing Pumpkins in 1999, but the band broke up in 2000. With the Pumpkins' singer/guitarist Billy Corgan, Chamberlin went on to form Zwan in 2002.
