Jean Metzinger

Jean Metzinger (1883-1956) was a French painter.

Intially he was influenced by fauvism and impressionism but since 1908 he was associated with cubism. He was a member of the Section d'Or artistic group. Together with A. Gleizes he wrote Du Cubisme in 1912. In the later phase of his career he moved away from cubism towards realism but retained some elements of cubistic style.
