Isabella Augusta Gregory

Isabella Augusta Gregory (1852-1932), better known simply as Lady Gregory, was an Irish dramatist.

She was born Isabella Augusta Persse in Roxborough, Co. Galway. Married Sir William Henry Gregory in 1880 and widowed in 1892. With W B Yeats, she co-founded the Abbey Theatre, Dublin, and wrote numerous short works for its players, including:

  • Spreading the News (1904)
  • The Rising of the Moon (1907)
