Intendant of New France

In New France, there were three rulers for every colony: governor, a bishop and an intendant. The intendant, with the influence of the bishop and governor, managed areas in the colony such as law and order, income and so on.

The first intendant of New France was Jean Talon, appointed in 1665 when the colony became a royal province of France.
