Igor Sikorsky

Igor Ivanovich Sikorsky (May 25, 1889 - October 26, 1972) was a Russian-born American pioneer of aviation who designed the first four-engine aeroplanes and the first modern helicopter.

On May 13, 1913 Sikorsky became the first person to pilot a four engine aircraft.

On May 24, 1940 he performed the first successful single-rotor helicopter flight.
