Hogarth Press
The Hogarth Press was founded in 1917 by Leonard and Virginia Woolf. It was named after their house in Richmond, in whose dining room the books were at first hand printed. From being a hobby, it grew during the inter-war years to being a business, with the books beimg printed by commercial printers.In 1946, it became an associate company of Chatto & Windus, but still publishes under its own imprint.
As well as publishing the works of the members of the Bloomsbury group, the Hogarth Press was at the forefront of publishing works on Psychoanalysis and translations of foreign, especially Russian, works.
