Guadalupe Victoria

Guadalupe Victoria, born in Durango, Mexico was the President of Mexico 1824 - 1829. He became the first president of the new country after the overthrow of Augustín de Iturbide; his given name was actually Félix Fernández but he chose his new name for symbolic significance: Guadalupe to give thanks for the protection of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and Victoria which means Victory.
