Groton, ConnecticutGroton, Connecticut is the home of the Electric Boat Corporation, the major contractor for submarine work for the US Navy.Groton is on the shore of New England. The first diesel-powered submarine was commissioned in Groton on February 14, 1912. On January 21, 1954 the first nuclear-powered submarine, the USS Nautilus, was launched from Groton.
