Geneva Cointrin international airport

Geneva Cointrin International Airport is an airport in Geneva, Switzerland with the IATA Airport Code GVA. It is located 5 km from the city centre and has direct connections to expressways and railways ( SBB-CFF-FFS ).

The airport is a hub for Swiss International Airlines.

The following airlines fly to Geneva Contrin International Airport:

On September 2, 1998 Swissair Flight 111, an MD-11 heading to Cointrin from JFK International Airport crashed at night in the Atlantic Ocean 50 miles southwest of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Smoke was reported in the cabin and the aircraft was trying to land at Halifax International Airport. All 15 crew members and 214 passengers perished.
