Ezzard Charles
Ezzard Charles (July 7, 1921 - May 27, 1975) was a professional boxer and former Heavyweight champion of the world. Charles began his career as a Light-Heavyweight, and he was chosen by Ring Magazine as the best Light-Heavyweight of all time. He was a native of Cincinatti, Ohio, and his nickname was The Cincinatti Cobra.Charles' career spanned from 1941 until his retirement in 1959. During the course of his career he beat such notables as Joe Louis, Jersey Joe Walcott, Archie Moore, and Joey Maxim.
Ezzard Charles was elected to the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990, after posting a career record of 96-25-1 (58 KO's).
Ezzard Charles died in Chicago, Illinois from multiple sclerosis in 1975.
