DhaulagiriDhaulagiri at 8,167m/26,794' is the seventh highest mountain in the world. Dhaulagiri is located in the Himalayas of north central Nepal. Dhaulagiri means "White Mountain".
Dhaulagiri was first climbed in 1960 by Kurt Diemberger, P. Diener, E. Forrer, A. Schelbert, Nyima Dorji and Nawang Dorji of a Swiss/Austrian expedition. This was also the first Himalayan climb supported by an airplane which also crashed during the approach. The airplane was later abandoned on the mountain.
