Crop

The word crop can mean any of the following:

  • Any plant that is grown in significant quantities to be harvested as food, livestock fodder, or for another economic purpose.
  • A thin-walled expanded portion of the alimentary tract used for the storage of food prior to digestion that is found in many animals, including earthworms, insects, and birds.
  • to edit or cut an image, removing unwanted parts or extraneous detail from the edges.

Cropping is used by bees to store nectar of flowers. When bees "suck" nectar, it is stored in their crop. They can then fly while transporting it.
