Crater Lake
Crater Lake in Oregon is the deepest lake in the United States, the second deepest lake in the Western Hemisphere and the seventh deepest lake in the world. It was formed by the collapse of the caldera of the volcano Mount Mazama, around 5700 BCE.The lake's average depth is around 1500 feet (450 meters). Its deepest point has been measured at 1958 feet (596.8 meters) deep, though as with any lake its depth fluctuates with the climate, particularly the rainfall. [1][1]
Crater Lake is located within Crater Lake National Park. It is famous to the tourists for its deep blue color, water clarity and the driftwood.
