City University of New York

The City University of New York (CUNY) was organized in 1961 as the umbrella institution of the municipal colleges of the City of New York. It includes:

  • Original colleges incorporated into CUNY:
  • Colleges formerly included in the above, now separate institutions:
    • Baruch College (formerly the downtown campus of City College)
    • Lehman College (formerly the Bronx campus of Hunter College)
  • Newly created institutions:
  • Two-year colleges:
    • Borough of Manhattan Community College
    • Bronx Community College--located on the original New York University Campus.
    • Hostos Community College
    • Kingsborough Community College
    • LaGuardia Community College
    • Queensborough Community College

CUNY has a graduate School as well as a medical school and a law school.
