Catacomb 3D

Catacomb 3D, is a series of computer games from id Software that was released in November 1991. It is a first-person shooter for IBM PC with EGA graphics. The game introduced the concept of showning the player's hand and led up to the sucessfull and more known Wolfenstein 3D.

The origins of the games are Catacomb by John Carmack for the PC and Apple II. Thi is a 2D view from above game released in 1989-1990. It was followed up with Catacomb II that used the same game engine, just the levels were new.

The first release of the 3D version was called Catacomb 3d: A new dimension, but it was later re-released as Catacomb 3d: The Descent.

The game credits are John Carmack, John Romero, Jason Blochowiak (programming), Tom Hall (creative director), Adrian Carmack (artist) and Robert Prince (music).

Catacomb Abyss

Catacomb Abyss was the only game in the series that was released as shareware. It was released by Softdisk, Inc. in 1992.

The credits are Mike Maynard, Jim Row and Nolan Martin (programming), Steve Maines (art direction), Steve Maines, Carol Ludden, Jerry Jones and Adrian Carmack (art production), Jim Weiler and Judi Mangham (quality assurance) and id Software (3D imaging effects)

Catacomb Armageddon

Catacomb Armageddon is the sequel to Catacomb Abyss. It was later re-released as Curse of the Catacombs.

Catacomb Apocalypse

Catacomb Apocalypse is the final game in the Catacomb Fantasy Trilogy. It was later re-released as Terror of the Catacombs.
