Castro Street

Castro Street is a 1966 short documentary film which uses the sounds and sights of a city street to tell the street's own story. There is no dialogue and no people, just traffic, buildings and signs. It was directed by Bruce Baillie.

The film has been selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.


Castro Street is a street in San Francisco, California, at the heart of that city's gay village. The immediate area surrounding the street is also commonly referred to as "the Castro.
