Canis Major (dwarf galaxy)Canis Major is a dwarf galaxy located in the constellation of Canis Major, ~25,000 light-years from Earth. The galaxy, containing a relatively high percentage of red dwarf stars, is being pulled into the Milky Way; the galaxy contains ~1 billion stars in all. Canis Major was found, in 2003, by astronomers conducting the Two-Micron All Sky Survey.See also: Sagittarius (dwarf galaxy)
