Camilo Sesto

Camilo Blanes Cortes (September 16, 1946-) better known in the entertainment world as Camilo Sesto is a native of Alicante who enjoyed fame as a singer during the 1970s. He sings pop and ballads.

Sesto joined two groups in the 1960s and won a contest on a Madrid TV show. He also participated on Spain's version of the Hamlet Movie. After leaving the second group, he paired with Juan Pardo, another member of various famous groups, and together, they wrote a few songs that went unnoticed.

Sesto then moved to Los Angeles, where he started to learn English at a college. This was during 1970 and proved to be the best move ever of his life. Sesto then started gaining fame as a singer until he reached the top of the charts all over Latin America and Europe with classics like "Perdoname", and "Melina", the latter jos ,pst successful hit. He amassed great fortune during that decade.

During the 1980s , Sesto became more and more reclusive, and he adopted a baby boy in 1982. He closed himself up to the media and fans, causing a lot of gossip and controversy about his person.

Sesto's reclusiveness, habits and mystery have made his fans give him the nickname The Michael Jackson of Spain.

In 1999, BMG Records released a Camilo Sesto greatest hits cd, named Camilo Sesto: Lo Mejor De Lo Mejor (The Best Of The Best)
